Description
The HIDTA program operates in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), the National Drug Control Strategy, and the Nevada HIDTA Executive Board. Nevada HIDTA is recruiting qualified individuals for the Criminal Intelligence Analyst position. This grant-funded position is contingent upon annual HIDTA funding from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).
The ideal candidate must be capable of handling a wide range of intelligence- and analytical-related tasks in a fluid law enforcement environment. Candidates must have strong critical thinking skills and demonstrate the ability to analyze information from various sources and develop conclusions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision-making ability, and attention to detail are important. Candidates must be well organized and flexible. Candidates must possess the ability to interact with other analysts and investigators in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism, a team player mentality, and a commitment to confidentiality.
Requirements
Ability to compile data, analyze findings, and write reports that indicate relationships between criminal elements and/or criminal enterprises.
Ability to learn federal, state, and local guidelines, applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding the collection, retention, and sharing of criminal intelligence.
Demonstrated skill using Microsoft Office applications, particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook.
Ability to data mine information, research, and analyze data in various formats using common databases in law enforcement environments.
Knowledge of social media sites and other open-source information to assist with developing information.
Ability to learn or possess knowledge of cell phone mapping, event timelines, and link analysis.
Experience working in a team environment.
Experience working on processes, documenting procedures, and identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.
Ability to prepare charts/graphs and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Current federal, state, or local experience as a law enforcement case support analyst.
A college degree in an analytical field of study or a similarly related discipline, five years of progressively responsible technical or professional experience in the field of law enforcement, or a combination of law enforcement, military, or appropriate employment experience, training, and education that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to meet the demands of the position.
Experience with methods and techniques used in researching, compiling, sorting, evaluating, and analyzing criminal intelligence, data, reports, and other offender and law enforcement organization information.
Specific criminal intelligence analyst training from a law enforcement agency or accredited organization such as the International Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts (IALEIA) or Anacapa Services Inc.
Specific analytical law enforcement case support experience using open-source, JLCLIENT/CJIS, I2 Analyst notebook, ALPR data, Accurint, or other law enforcement databases.
Fluent Spanish language capabilities preferred. Spanish proficiency will be confirmed.
APPOINTMENT AND COMPENSATION
This is a full-time, non-remote position, renewable annually based on performance and program funding.
The compensation is $72,00.00 annually, plus benefits, with potential growth subject to funding availability.
The HIDTA Criminal Intelligence Analyst will serve as an employee of Nevada HIDTA and not as an agent, employee, or servant of a law enforcement agency.

The selected individual must pass an employment background check, the hosting agency’s annual background investigation, and pass a Federal Secret-level security clearance.
The position often requires flexible hours, and the assignment location in the Las Vegas area is based on the Investigative Support Center (ISC) Manager's evaluation of need.
