Description
The Assessment and Data Coordinator supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research by assisting with institutional and program assessment, data reporting and analysis, and accreditation compliance. This position plays a key role in advancing a culture of evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement across the University of West Alabama.
The Coordinator will assist with data analysis, reporting, and documentation for institutional planning and compliance purposes. This individual will work closely with faculty and staff to develop and implement assessment measures, collect and analyze assessment data, and assist in the preparation of state and accreditation reports, including those for ACHE and SACSCOC.
Primary Responsibilities
Assessment and Accreditation
- Support academic and administrative units in developing and refining student learning outcomes, assessment measures, and the use of results for continuous improvement.
- Assist with coordinating the annual assessment and reporting cycle, ensuring that academic programs and administrative units submit timely and meaningful reports.
- Collaborate with faculty to collect, organize, and interpret assessment data for program and institutional effectiveness reporting.
- Assist in drafting narratives and compiling evidence for institutional and programmatic accreditation reports and compliance certifications.
- Support SACSCOC reaffirmation, substantive change, and fifth-year interim reporting processes.
- Support program specific reaffirmation and accreditation reporting processes
- Conduct internal audits of policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory bodies.
Data and Reporting
- Assist in preparing institutional data reports and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support data analysis and visualization efforts to inform decision-making and strategic planning.
- Help prepare submissions to the Alabama Commission on Higher Education (ACHE), SACSCOC, IPEDS, and other agencies.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to institutional data integrity and governance initiatives.
Institutional Effectiveness and Research
- Assist with the implementation and tracking of key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with the University’s strategic plan.
- Support special projects related to data-informed decision-making, continuous improvement, and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with the Dean for the use of data analysts to improve reporting processes and strengthen institutional data capacity.
- Participate in professional development and training to remain current in assessment, research, and accreditation practices.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in assessment, institutional research, or accreditation.
- Strong analytical, writing, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other data reporting or visualization tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline.
- Experience drafting or managing accreditation reports.
- Basic knowledge of ACHE, IPEDS, or state/federal reporting processes.
- Experience working with faculty on assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
