- Assistant Professor of Sport Management
Description
The Department of Exercise Science at Tennessee Tech invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sport Management. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, engage in scholarly research, and provide service to the department, college, university, and the profession. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, research productivity, and active participation in academic and professional service.

Essential Functions
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport Management in both face-to-face and online formats.
- Advise and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Conduct and disseminate scholarly research in Sport Management or related fields.
- Pursue external funding through grants, contracts, and/or sponsored research.
- Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Contribute to departmental, college, university, and professional service.
- Engage in partnerships that enhance program growth and visibility.
- Integrate innovative instructional strategies, including artificial intelligence applications, into teaching and learning.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned doctorate in Sport Management or a closely related field from an accredited university (completed by time of appointment).
- Documented success in teaching at the college/university level.
- Evidence of scholarly research and professional service.
- Experience teaching online courses.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least three years of full-time university-level teaching experience.
- Documented success in managing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in D2L (Desire2Learn) or other contemporary online delivery platforms.
- Experience in curriculum and course development, as well as program assessment.
- Demonstrated success in grant procurement and/or sponsored research.
- Experience with strategic planning, accreditation processes, and program partnership development.
Evidence of incorporating artificial intelligence into instructional design and delivery.

Candidate must document teaching experience in a variety of the listed courses by providing course syllabi, course evaluations or other appropriate documentation and demonstrate excellence in teaching by providing course evaluations for one of the following: exercise and sport psychology, sports ethics, sport governance, facilities management, legal issues in sport, sport management, sport marketing and promotion, leadership or risk management.
