Work schedule: Full-time, 40 HRS/WK
Days & hours of work: M - F, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

General Description: Responsible for overall financial management of the agency.
Supervisor: Executive Director
Supervises: Accounting Clerk and Human Resources
Essential duties:
- Create, coordinate and review annual budget for each cost center, develop and implement system to monitor spending, approve purchases, oversee accounts receivable/payable and submit monthly program billing.
- Prepare financial information for vendors, board of directors and staff.
- Advise on investments, purchases, insurance, contracts, tech, and payment options.
- Supervise staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall financial operations for the agency:
- Develop, implement and monitor program spending, prepare and provide monthly accounting to Program Director and Executive Director.
- Prepare reports for Board of Directors and Finance Committee.
- Attend Board, Finance, Audit and Investment committee meetings.
- Advise and assist with the meaningful interpretation of financial information.
- Prepare financial back up information necessary for analysis and decision making.
- Assist in Resource allocation.
Responsible for submission of all financial reports necessary to maintain UCP’s legal and funding status:
- Prepare 990 income tax reports, 5500, RRF-1s, 571Ls, etc.
- Oversee annual audit.
- Prepare program cost statements.
- Oversee monthly billing.
Provide oversight on day to day operations:
- Responsible for payroll oversight.
- Oversee accounts receivable/payable and cash flow management.
- Do monthly bank reconciliation and close each month; make adjustments.
- Provide computer and phone support and training to staff.
- Establishment of internal controls and safeguards.
Responsible for supervising Account and Human Resources staff:
- Recruit, interview, select and supervise staff.
- Prepare and conduct yearly performance evaluations.
Responsible for purchasing and equipment Inventory:
- Assist staff in analysis of equipment and purchase options.
- Development of Capital Plan for routing replacements. Direct determination of depreciation rates.
- Development of yearly inventory.
- Assist in upgrading and maintaining computer and phone equipment and software.
Participate in Intra-Agency activities:
- Meeting with Administrative team to develop financial goals.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Controller, Preferable in a non-profit organization.
- Experience with general and cost accounting auditing, fund accounting, budgeting, cash management systems and procedures.
- Must be competent with computerized accounting.
Communication Skills:
- Ability to prepare, read, analyze and interpret reports pertaining to the financial operation of the agency.
- Ability to provide training and direction to staff.
- Ability to respond to inquiries from staff and vendors.
- Ability to effectively present information to the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.
Reasoning & Mental Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to solve complex financial problems.
- Ability to make logical comparisons.
- Ability to work within deadlines and work with interruptions.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to operational functions including budget, finance and statistical analysis.

Work Environment:
- Noise level in the office is low to moderate.
- Ventilation/air conditioning/heating in the office is a “closed system. All windows are hermetically sealed.

- The lighting is overhead florescent or LED.
- Travel environments will vary.
