Description

Northeast Dermatopathology Institute (NDI) is a private practice dermatopathology-only laboratory established in 2005. We have a dedicated and loyal physician referral base and pride ourselves in delivering outstanding service with superior turn-around time. We are seeking a physician completing their Dermatopathology fellowship in 2026, although the position is available now. We will consider either dermatology or pathology trained applicants who are board certified or board eligible in dermatopathology. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a casual, friendly atmosphere. We are a laboratory which performed over 16,000 cases in 2025 and continue to see growth each and every year. There is no on-call coverage and no hospital rotation. We offer an attractive base salary and benefits package.
NDI performs both histochemical and immunohistochemical staining in-house, employing many of the standard histochemical stains used in the practice of Dermatopathology. There is also the need for oral pathology in our region so a candidate with exposure or experience in oral pathology would be a plus. Last but not least, our dermatopathologists also perform frozen section cases. Please note, these are preferred qualifications and not requirements.
Our laboratory is located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania. We are close to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area and are approximately a two hour drive from NYC or Philadelphia. We are truly a four season climate. In the spring, golfers usually hit the links around April 1. Our summers are marked by cool evenings with comfortable humidity. Spectacular fall foliage fills the landscape every October and our 50 inches of annual snowfall results in excellent skiing conditions from early December through Mid March.
Our area is home to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penquins, the AHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penquins. These events take place at the fabulous Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes Barre. The 11,000 seat PNC Field is home to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Within walking distance to the stadium at Montage Mountain is the Glenmaura National Golf Club, a private course that’s been rated one of the top golf destinations in Pennsylvania. These are just a few of the spectacular sports and recreation attractions in our region.
