Finance Department
Full-Time – In-Person - Williamsport, PA | Exempt

We’re seeking a Director of Finance to help steward our resources, strengthen our financial operations, and ensure long-term sustainability so millions of young people can continue to play, learn, and grow.
This is a leadership role for a hands-on, strategic finance professional who thrives in a mission-driven nonprofit environment and enjoys partnering across an organization to turn financial insight into impact.
What You’ll Do
Key responsibilities include:
As a hands-on Director of Finance, you’ll oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the organization while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership. You’ll lead a talented team, ensure strong financial controls, and help align fiscal strategy with our mission — including during one of the most visible youth sporting events in the world, the Little League World Series.
Financial Management & Reporting
Lead all core accounting functions including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll funding, cash flow, and reconciliations
Prepare and review journal entries and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records
Oversee invoicing, revenue collection, documentation, and reporting
Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements for leadership and the Board of Directors
Monitor cash flow, short-term investments, fixed assets, and corporate credit card programs
Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong internal controls
Deliver clear, actionable financial analyses to support organizational decision-making
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management
Lead the annual external audit from start to finish
Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors
Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies
Budgeting & Financial Planning
Partner with the VP, Finance on annual budget development
Monitor performance against budget and provide timely variance analysis
Support forecasting and long-term financial planning aligned with strategic goals
Operational & Strategic Leadership
Oversee the Purchasing Department, driving efficiency and cost control
Identify and implement improvements to financial and operational processes
Act as a strategic partner to departments across the organization
Support long-term financial strategy, capital planning, and mission-driven investment
Align philanthropic and donor-related financial management with stewardship best practices
Little League World Series Financial Operations
Ensure secure and controlled cash management, reconciliation, and inventory controls for event-based merchandise sales
Manage secure collection, deposits, and daily financial reporting during the event
Provide real-time sales and revenue insights to senior leadership
Support event-based financial decision-making during tournament operations
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Supervise and mentor a team of finance and operations professionals
Build departmental capacity through coaching, training, and performance management
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, service, and continuous improvement
Participate in cross-functional initiatives and special projects
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, CPA preferred.
7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
At least 5 years of people management experience in a leadership role
Deep knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, and internal controls
Detailed knowledge of standard financial and accounting procedures
Familiarity with accounting software, SAGE Intacct preferred.
Experience preparing financial reports for a nonprofit organization.
Experience leading external audits and presenting to Boards or Committees
Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis skills
Ability to make sound financial decisions and establish checks and balances in all financial processes
Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with financial systems
Excellent communication skills — able to translate financial data for non-financial audiences
High ethical standards and a strong commitment to stewardship and transparency
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, MBA, or other relevant master’s degree
Experience with Sage Intacct or similar nonprofit accounting systems
Grant management experience
Experience developing presentations for executives or Board audiences

This role works flexible in-person core hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with flexibility required during audits and major events.
