- Director of Finance and Operations
Description
Reporting to the Superintendent, the Director of Business & Operations provides strategic leadership and
oversight of the district’s financial and business services to ensure fiscal integrity, operational efficiency,
and long-term sustainability aligned with district priorities.
This position serves as a strategic partner in advancing the district’s mission and strategic plan by
connecting financial decision-making to student outcomes, innovation, and organizational effectiveness.
The Director moves beyond transactional accounting functions to provide forward-thinking financial
leadership, anticipating future needs and positioning the district for stability and growth.
Requirements
Master’s Degree in Education, Business, Public Administration or equivalent degree
preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent degree preferred.
Five years’ experience preferred in financial and planning management.
Demonstrated experience in budget development.
Demonstrated skill in accurate enrollment projections and forecasting.
Knowledge of governmental fund accounting, Common School Manual and OSPI
Accounting Manual.
Knowledge of WSIPC data-processing system.
Knowledge of Skyward/In Touch a plus.
Knowledge of School-Based Management practices.
Experience in handling insurance claims.
Experience in handling real estate transactions.
Ability to effectively schedule, organize and supervise work assignments.
Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relations, communications and problem solving.
Leadership qualities that demonstrate an ability to be innovative, as well as maintain
responsible and trusting relationships.
Experience in levy and bond calculations and elections.
Experience with risk management issues and controls.
Knowledge of food services, pupil transportation and maintenance operations.
Demonstrated effectiveness in leading and developing people.
Experience with strategic and operational planning and management.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, and work under extreme time-pressure
