Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, provides screening, consultation, behavioral intervention, referrals and short-term counseling to patients within an integrated medical and behavioral health setting. Makes clinical recommendations and refers to appropriate levels of care in a team-based setting.

- This position requires compliance with MSHS’ compliance standards, including the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
- Demonstrates competency in providing integrated and/or initial consult assessments and develops treatment plan.
- Demonstrates competency in providing individual, group, and family therapy using best practice approaches to treatment.
- Assists primary health care providers in recognizing and treating psychiatric disorders and psychological problems within scope of license.
- Provides referral to Behavioral Health Services for longer-term treatment, as appropriate. May provide treatment to SED/SMI population as needed.
- Completes all clinical documentation according to state and professional regulations with minimal error and correction. Attends to all billing reports, claims and correspondence required in connection with the services rendered in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates competency in provision of after hour, 24/7- emergency services and/or; daytime crisis coverage.
- Completes and submits all crisis intervention documentation in a timely manner with minimal errors.
- Initiates and participates in clinical supervision proportionate to licensure and level of experience and training in both peer and one to one setting.
- May see agency level 2 rehab clients as needed.
- Provides a minimum of 50% productivity/billable time per week.
Nonessential Functions
- Participates in or may present staff in-service training.
- Other position related duties as assigned.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily inside a heated, ventilated, and well-lighted environment.
Job is considered low-risk for hazard exposure.
Mat-Su Health Services is a nonsmoking campus.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Alaska.
Two years of experience providing direct counseling services.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to work effectively with patients who have conditions that necessitate life style changes;
High level of comfort in working with primary care medical providers using a consultative style;
Knowledge of DSM IVtr and DSM 5, ASAM criteria;
Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatment for behavioral health conditions;
Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of behavioral health conditions;
Ability to work through brief patient contacts, including via telephone;
Ability to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers, other behavioral health providers, as well as administrative and support staff;
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to relate in a positive and courteous manner;
Ability to exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions, and to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a calm, consistent, and equitable manner;
Demonstrated understanding, respect, and appreciation for diversity.
General
Clear background check (subject to DHSS fingerprinted background check).
Current driver’s license; clear driving record history
Current tuberculosis screening test result.
First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained within 2 weeks of hire. CPI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) certification must be obtained when offered through the agency; may substitute current MANDT certificate for CPI.
