Overview
The University Health Network Centre for Mental Health, a University of Toronto (U of T) teaching hospital, is seeking applicants for the Loretta Anne Rogers Chair in Eating Disorders. The Loretta Anne Rogers Chair in Eating Disorders was funded by Edward and Loretta Rogers to promote research positively impacting the lives of patients with eating disorders and their families. The Chair is part of the pioneering philanthropy in this area. The term of the Chair position is 5 years with the opportunity for one 5-year renewal following a successful review.
UHN’s Eating Disorders Program is the largest of its kind in Canada, providing intensive, personalized treatment to patients 17 years of age or older with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other eating disorders. The program offers both inpatient treatment and virtual intensive outpatient treatment. Also housed within the program is the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC), which provides information, resources, referrals and support to Canadians affected by this mental illness.
The Chair will focus on research building capacity and team building. The Chair will provide research mentorship and support for junior faculty. Modelling collaboration with senior and junior colleagues, the Chair will help to foster cohesion and integration within the UHN Eating Disorders Program.
Requirements
Qualifications
The successful candidate must already hold, or be eligible for, a full-time clinical (MD or PhD) or status-only academic appointment within the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, U of T, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. If a practicing clinician, they must hold or be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. They must also have a strong background in, and track record of, mentorship and research productivity in the area of eating disorders.
Compensation
The Chair holder’s remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Chair will be based at the University Health Network, and if the Chair holder is a clinician (MD), he/she is expected to become a member of the UHN Psychiatry Association and will be entitled to additional support commensurate with academic and clinical activities.
