Evans Scholars Foundation Overview
Established by famed amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the program provides full housing and tuition scholarships to deserving caddies across the country. Currently, 1,260 caddies are attending college on scholarship; there are more than 12,000 Evans Alumni. More information is available at wgaesf.org.
Program Description
The Manager, Student Success helps to support the current Evans Scholars who are enrolled at 27 partner universities across the country and is integral to the operations of the WGA/ESF Education Team. This opportunity will require a high level of project management and collaboration across the WGA/ESF organization.
Requirements
Job Responsibilities
Regular meetings and frequent travel to visit Evans Scholars on campus and conduct meetings or events with students, advisors, and large groups. Liaise with Executive Boards, Advisors, and university officials. This will include a combination of virtual visits and in-person visits to a select group of chapters as assigned by the leadership team. Over time, this individual will focus on leadership for 3-5 Evans Scholars chapters.
Provide dedicated support to Evans Scholars, including social, academic, and personal needs. Support Education Team goals of graduation rate and academic success. Maintain close contact with assigned Scholars and utilize Zengine to document important information. Create academic success plans with Scholars on probation.
Provide leadership and collaborate with Education and Facilities team to enhance process around work requests, inventory management, room condition reports and the check-in/checkout process.
Support Graduate Resident Advisor/Resident Advisor recruitment process and assist with training during the Summer Leadership Summit as well as ongoing training and support throughout the Academic year.
Provide leadership to programming efforts for the department which could include New Scholar programming, student success programming following the term, and other emerging programs led by the Education team.
Provides support to special ES initiatives, notably Career Services and Opportunity and Outreach. This includes programing, committee support, data management, and effective communication.
Responsible for administrative support services for the Scholarship Department as needed.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree for four-year college or university; or one to three years related experiences and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified candidates will have:
Self-motivated, positive personality. Ability to initiate and complete projects independently and prioritize work appropriately. Must possess a positive and service-centered attitude.
Ability to work as a strong collaborator. Understand organization dynamics and the team approach, as well as how the departments work separately and together. Able to manage cross-departmental projects.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking and one-on-one student support.
The ability to lead with empathy and manage conflict is critical in this role.
Ability to travel regionally and nationally to facilitate regular campus visits
Willing to occasionally work nights and weekends
Ideal for someone who has a passion for and experience with education and the Evans Scholars Program. Previous experience working with youth or youth organizations is preferred.
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; familiarity with the various academic data management software.
