Location: Remote/Onsite hybrid (North Seattle/Shoreline) occasional nights and weekends

Job Description
Seattle REconomy seeks a passionate, relationship-driven individual to join our team as Membership & Development Manager to grow Seattle REconomy’s long-term impact and sustainability. As our first staff member dedicated to membership and fundraising, you’ll play a pivotal role in cultivating the community that powers this work, from members and donors to small businesses and local partners. You will lead the growth of a scalable, values-driven membership program from the ground up by helping shape our strategies for connecting with current and new members and engaging current and potential funders.
This role will work closely with a collaborative, cross-functional team and a passionate working board to strengthen a culture of community-based sharing of resources and knowledge. This is a part-time position with somewhat flexible hours and lots of room to grow, ideal for someone who is creative, outgoing, and shows initiative!
Key Responsibilities
The Membership & Development Manager will design and implement an annual fund development strategy that welcomes new members, supports our existing community, invites support from the broader community and lays the groundwork for building a broader donor base, donor engagement, and steps to prepare for a possible future capital campaign. More specifically:
Membership Engagement: 45% time
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to create a membership engagement plan that aligns with organizational goals and priorities, including an annual membership drive, regular communications through a variety of media, and community events that develop ties among our members and partner organizations.
- Ensure a consistent and positive member experience by listening and communicating member feedback to the leadership team.
In collaboration with key staff and volunteers, develop and manage membership communication systems and processes to ensure a positive and easy experience for new and current members.
Development/Fundraising: 30% time
Create and manage a fundraising strategy consistent with organizational culture, mission, and values including:
- Plan, lead, and manage two annual fundraising campaigns (one summer, one end-of-year) to raise additional funds from our community
Implement and evaluate an annual donor engagement and stewardship plan to help retain donors, aligning all activities with broader development and growth goals - Serve as a reliable and consistent representative of Seattle REconomy and a touchstone for potential funders
Support the Executive Director and Board of Directors in their efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward potential major donors and community sponsors, including:
- Manage and maintain the donor and sponsor prospect list, ensuring information is to up to date before key decisions are made
- Researching the interests, community commitments, and giving history of major donor prospects to inform their cultivation by the ED and Board
- Create materials and communications as needed
- Serve as staff liaison to the Development Committee
Collaborate with grant-focused staff in research and writing as needed
Data Management & Reporting: 15% time
- Manage and maintain the infrastructure for member and donor records and online transactions. Ensure accurate recording of membership and donation transactions
- Track and analyze membership and donation activity, retention, trends, and overall fundraising performance to inform strategies that increase membership value, donor participation, and philanthropic engagement.
Secondary responsibilities
Events/Community Building: 10% time
- Represent Seattle REconomy at program, community, and partner events as needed.
- Provide occasional support for program and community events including preparing materials, assisting with logistics, helping at events, and coordinating post-event follow-up.
- With the Executive Director and Board of Directors, secure event sponsorships and in-kind contributions from local partners to support community programming.
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
- A high school diploma is required. Additional education in a relevant field, such as nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or business, is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, membership management, or a development setting.
- Strong communicator with a knack for creating engaging, audience-focused content for members, donors, and community supporters.
- Proficiency in donor databases or CRM platforms (e.g. Neon, Little Green Light, Bloomerang, etc).
- Comfort with spreadsheets, managing and interpreting data, and learning new technology tools
- Project management skills, detail orientation, and the ability to prioritize among competing deadlines
- Comfort with a public-facing role and building relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on a small team.
- Alignment with Seattle REconomy values.
Preferred:
- Experience in a small-shop nonprofit or a startup-like environment.
- Interest or experience in environmental sustainability, local economies, or cooperative models.
- Familiarity with membership management and a willingness to deepen skills.
- Knowledge of community-based or values-aligned fundraising models (e.g., Community-Centric Fundraising).
- Familiarity with the concepts of capital campaign planning or major gift fundraising.
- Basic content design experience and familiarity with tools like Canva.
