Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development team supporting defense and intelligence community projects. This role is ideal for an early-career developer who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is interested in evolving complex simulation frameworks. The position focuses on enhancing and maintaining existing modeling and simulation systems, integrating scenarios and models, and performing testing and verification using modern Agile development practices.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of existing Modeling & Simulation frameworks
Integrate new scenarios and models into simulation environments
Perform testing, verification, and validation of simulation capabilities
Collaborate with software engineers and analysts to develop mission-focused solutions
Apply Agile software development practices in a team-based environment
Adapt quickly to changing requirements in a high-visibility development effort
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Strong communication and organizational skills
U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Required Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience with one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, Python, or Java
Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience
Experience using source control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jenkins)
Desired Qualifications
Experience developing software for Linux platforms
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, NGTS, or ITASE
Experience with virtual machines and container technologies (e.g., WSL2, Docker)
Understanding of object-oriented design patterns
Experience with modern IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, PyCharm)
Familiarity with DoD security practices
