NDT Technician- Level II - Liquid Penetrant & Magnetic Particle Testing
$30-$45 per hour depending on experience
Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Level II NDT Technician with current certifications in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) to perform critical non-destructive testing inspections. The successful candidate will conduct examinations, interpret results, prepare reports, and provide technical guidance while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols under the supervision of a Level III NDT professional.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform Level II liquid penetrant and magnetic particle testing on various materials, components, and assemblies according to applicable codes, standards, and procedures
Set up and calibrate NDT equipment including penetrant systems, magnetic particle equipment, and associated inspection tools
Interpret test results, identify and evaluate indications, and determine acceptance criteria per applicable standards (ASME, AWS, ASTM, etc.)
Prepare comprehensive written reports documenting inspection procedures, findings, and recommendations
Review and approve Level I technician work and provide technical guidance and training
Develop and write NDT procedures and work instructions as needed
Maintain accurate records and ensure traceability of all inspection activities
Perform equipment maintenance and verify proper operation of NDT systems
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and radiation safety requirements
Interface with customers, quality personnel, and engineering staff regarding inspection results
Work under the supervision and guidance of Level III NDT personnel
Required Qualifications:
Current Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) per SNT-TC-1A, NAS-410, or equivalent standard
Current Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) per SNT-TC-1A, NAS-410, or equivalent standard
Must have completed and documented the minimum required training hours and hands-on experience hours for Level II qualification in both PT and MT methods
Minimum 2-4 years of hands-on NDT experience
High school diploma or equivalent required
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with computers and NDT reporting software
Physical ability to work in various positions and environments
Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Level II certifications (UT, RT, VT)
Associate degree in related technical field
Experience in aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, or manufacturing industries
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME Section V, AWS D1.1, ASTM standards)
Previous experience training and mentoring junior technicians
Working Conditions:
Work performed in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, respiratory equipment, steel-toed shoes, and/or other appropriate protective clothing
May require lifting up to 50 pounds and working in confined spaces
Exposure to industrial shop environment (non-air conditioned / non-heated) noise, chemicals
Position reports to and works under the supervision of Level III NDT personnel
Compensation: $30-$45 Competitive salary commensurate with experience and certifications, plus comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plan, and professional development opportunities.

Must be Green Card Holder or US Citizen-must have current legal status to work in the United Sates
Current Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) per SNT-TC-1A, NAS-410, or equivalent standard
Current Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) per SNT-TC-1A, NAS-410, or equivalent standard
