- Part Time Law Enforcement Analyst I
Description
The Law Enforcement Analyst I performs work receiving, abstracting and summarizing data pertaining to criminal activities and may involve the preparation of crime analysis information, criminal intelligence gathering, and/or real-time patrol support. Assignments may be within the Criminal Intelligence & Analysis Unit performing crime analysis or intelligence analysis, or at the Real-Time Crime Center.
Crime Analysis specialization includes compilation and analysis of crime data to identify new crime trends, emerging patterns, or problem areas that may require planning or law enforcement intervention. Intelligence Analysis specialization includes compilation and analysis of criminal intelligence data to identify potential people, groups, and events that may pose a safety concern. Real-Time Crime Analysis specialization includes research, assembling and presentation of information to provide investigative leads and functional patterns to be used as situational awareness in real time.

Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university -OR-
- Four (4) years professional experience in intelligence and/or crime analysis, related law enforcement field, and/or military intelligence can substitute for required education on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
- Prior analytical training and demonstrated technical experience with computer systems/programs and/or databases and software to extract, analyze, and present data to include GIS tools, Crystal Reports, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Available and agreeable to work varied hours, extended shifts, and be on-call as needed.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, and department policy.
- Knowledge of general office procedures, practices and equipment.
- Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Knowledge of procedures for operating various office equipment, including personal computers.
- Knowledge of report writing techniques.
- Knowledge of research and intelligence and/or crime analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of standard formats used for a variety of letters, memos, and related documents.
- Skilled in use of personal computer with keyboard, including the use of software packages to include Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, analytical software, internet, and public databases; copier; facsimile machine, and telephone.
Necessary Special Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull a minimum of 25 pounds independently.
- Subject to working irregular shifts in a fast-paced, shift-based environment.
- Subject to working on-call schedule as needed.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of FCIC/NCIC certification within 30 days of employment.
- Successful completion of 28 CFR Part 23 training within 30 days of employment.
- Successful completion of 40 hours of industry-relevant training. This may include Foundations of Intelligence Analysis
- Training, Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Training (prerequisite for Analyst Academy entrance), at least one Alpha Group
- training, or other approved training, preferably within two years of employment.
