We are currently seeking an experienced:
PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN (PCT)
Job Description:
- Assembles supplies for treatment trays/cart as needed. Stocks trays/cart before beginning daily tasks.
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of treatment trays/cart throughout the shift.
- Performs assigned decubitus treatments beginning with the most difficult always ascertaining the patient has been bathed.
- Performs assigned G-Tube dressings.
- May do fingersticks as assigned and report results to primary nurse.
- Hangs and initiates tube feeding after the Charge Nurse has determined proper positioning/placement of feeding tube.
- Signs treatment record verifying the treatment has been performed.
- Assists nursing assistants with turning and drying patients, if needed, after performing a treatment.
- Performs urinary catheter irrigations as designated by the Charge Nurse.
- Performs Ostomy care as designated by the Charge Nurse.
- Maintains privacy and patient dignity during treatment.
- Assists in the removal of fecal impactions as designated by the Charge Nurse.
- Sets up and monitors oxygen therapy as designated by the Charge Nurse.
- Assists Charge Nurse as needed with other treatments.
- Assists with the rehabilitation program as needed.
- Performs other tasks approved by the NC Board of Nursing after facility training and competency has been established.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the RN Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing or the Director of Nursing.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have current listing as an NAI with the Dept of Facility Services with no substantiated findings of abuse or neglect. Must have current listing and a NA II with the N.C. Board of Nursing.
- Willing to care for the needs of geriatric patients and demonstrate concern for their welfare.
- Respectful to all patients, visitors and co-workers.
- Practice good body mechanics and utilize all equipment in a safe manner.
- Demonstrate a neat, professional appearance.
- Read, know and follow personnel, departmental and facility policies and procedures.
- Attend inservice training and other staff meetings as required.
