- Public Engagement and Communications Director
Description
This position will guide and direct public engagement, outreach and communication efforts in MnDOT District One in accordance with MnDOT’s Public Engagement Policy. This includes developing public engagement plans with planning, project, and program managers; producing media to inform and engage the public in a variety of settings; and engaging the public directly. This also includes directing, planning, coordinating and executing an effective communication effort to strengthen public/private partnerships and broaden knowledge of transportation issues to ensure that information about MnDOT policy, programs and activities is available to constituent groups. This position also serves as the principal contact or spokesperson for local news media in regard to policy, actions and decisions. The position utilizes communication skills, human understanding, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion to effectively engage the public in order to advance the mission of the Department.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience (supervising professional level employees) related to communications, engagement and outreach demonstrating all the requirements listed below.
OR
- Three (3) years of advanced professional level experience related to communications, engagement and outreach (e.g., Information Officer 3 or higher) demonstrating all requirements listed below:
Experience must demonstrate:
- Experience developing strategic plans.
- Experience developing and carrying out engagement activities.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations.
- Knowledge of market research and analysis.
Please note: A bachelor's or master's degree in Communications or a closely related field (e.g., English, Journalism, etc.) substitutes for six (6) months of advanced professional experience.
