OVERVIEW:
Common Ground Collective (CGC) is seeking a committed and community-rooted Regional Director to lead outreach and organizing efforts on the Southwest Side of Chicago. The ideal candidate has strong ties to Latino communities or a demonstrated ability to build authentic, trust-based relationships with local leaders, parent groups, block clubs, faith communities, and small business owners, among others.
This role will help design and execute community engagement strategies that reflect the priorities of Southwest Side neighborhoods—such as public safety, affordability, economic opportunity, and support for small businesses. Candidates should be passionate about elevating community voices, strengthening neighborhood networks, and creating pathways for local residents to engage in civic life.
REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Regional Directors report the Program Director.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead assigned regional engagement and organizing strategy focused on Latino neighborhoods across Chicago’s Southwest Side.
- Build, strengthen, and maintain authentic relationships with community leaders, grassroots organizations, parents groups, block clubs, local business owners, neighborhood institutions and more.
- Advocate for community interests and lift up local stories to help shape organizational priorities and influence policy decisions.
- Manage and support a team of canvassers and volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to engage respectfully and effectively with Latino communities.
- Assist with developing bilingual outreach materials (if applicable), including door-knocking scripts, flyers, and event communications.
- Coordinate resources, partnerships, and best practices across wards and neighborhoods to ensure strong and consistent engagement.
- Track community concerns and trends to inform organizational strategy.
- Represent CGC at neighborhood events, coalition tables, small-business meetings, and public forums.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2–3 years of field, community organizing, or advocacy experience.
- Prior experience organizing or doing community outreach in Chicago’s Latino neighborhoods is strongly preferred.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with local leaders, parents, youth, faith communities, and small business owners.
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred (speaking, reading, or writing) — or a demonstrated ability to work effectively in bilingual community settings.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and navigate competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Access to reliable transportation is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet community needs.
- Commitment to innovation, adaptability, and piloting new community engagement models.
START DATE:
January - February 2026
LOCATION:
Chicago, IL (hybrid)
SALARY & BENEFITS:
The anticipated salary for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 and is commensurate with experience. CGC offers a benefits package that includes employer paid premiums for medical and dental insurance.
