Description
We are seeking a highly creative, digitally savvy, and enthusiastic Social Media Intern to join our fast-paced Democratic Congressional primary campaign team in the Chicago suburbs. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in political communications and digital organizing. The intern will work closely with the communications and digital consultants to help execute the campaign's social media strategy, build community engagement, and amplify the candidate's message to voters across the district.

Key Responsibilities
The Social Media Intern will be instrumental in the day-to-day execution of the campaign's digital presence, focusing on the following areas:
- Developing and drafting social media content across all major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok), ensuring all posts adhere to the candidate's voice and campaign messaging.
- Designing compelling graphics and visuals for social media using tools like Canva, Photoshop, or a similar software.
- Filming, editing, and creating short-form video content for Instagram Reels and TikTok to capture the candidate's authenticity.
- Assisting in scheduling and organizing posts using content calendar tools to ensure a consistent and timely presence.
- Monitoring social media platforms for engagement, trending topics, and news relevant to the campaign, the district, and the race.
- Tracking and reporting on key social media metrics (reach, engagement, impressions) weekly to help the team analyze content performance and optimize future strategy.
- Researching and tracking trends on social media platforms to identify new content opportunities and growth strategies.
- Performing community management, including responding to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
- Supporting other general communications and campaign tasks as needed, including occasional administrative work.
Qualifications and Expectations
- Commitment to the campaign’s mission and Democratic values.
- Strong working knowledge and active use of major social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, Facebook).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency or strong familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express) and basic video editing for mobile/social content.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be reliable, proactive, and eager to learn the mechanics of a political campaign.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for major campaign events.
- Current college students are encouraged to apply. Coursework or interest in communications, marketing, political science, or a related field is a plus.
