AWC is hiring a Senior Benefits Analyst for our Corporate location in Tacoma, WA with a hybrid work setting. We pay weekly and the wage range for this position is $85,000-105,000/yr. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market considerations.

Purpose
The Senior Benefits Analyst plays a critical role in the administration, compliance, and operational excellence of U.S. and Canadian benefit programs. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of retirement plan contributions, health and welfare plan payments, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and experience managing complex programs across multiple U.S. states and Canada, for union and non-union groups.
Essential Duties
- Manage all aspects of 401(k) plan administration, including weekly contribution funding, data entry and validation of employee deduction amounts, loan administration, and the annual 401K audit.
- Process weekly contributions to the Canadian RPP and RRSP plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian requirements.
- Calculate, prepare, and remit payments for multiple union benefit plans, including Teamsters Central States Health & Welfare and Pension Plans, Southern States Pension Plan, and Michigan Conference Health & Welfare Plans.
- Maintain accurate records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely remittance to all carriers and trust funds.
- Lead compliance reporting for U.S. and Canadian benefits, including but not limited to: Form 5500, ACA 1095-C preparation and data validation, WAPAL reporting, and Canadian T4 benefits-related reporting.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring data integrity.
- Administer all Canadian employee benefit programs, including new hire enrollments, life-event changes, system data entry and maintenance, and monthly billing review, reconciliation, and payment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Canadian benefit carriers and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate employee benefit records across HRIS and vendor systems.
Partner with Payroll, HRIS, HR, and Finance to ensure alignment and accuracy of benefit-related data. - Assist with process improvements, vendor management, and special projects as needed.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, advisors, vendors, and other external partners to ensure they meet the needs of the company and plan members.
- Provide backup to the Senior Benefits Specialist and the Director of Compensation & Benefits.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, with exposure to both U.S. and Canadian plans preferred
- CEBS, CBP, or related certification preferred
- Direct experience administering 401(k) plans, including funding, loans, distributions, audit support, payroll interfaces, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with union benefit plans and multi-employer trust fund remittances is highly desirable
- Experience preparing or supporting compliance filings such as Form 5500, ACA 1095-C, and Canadian T4 reporting
- High proficiency in Excel and HRIS/benefits systems with the ability to pass an advanced Excel practical exam
- High attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and compliance reporting requirements
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills for working with vendors, carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders
- Experience administering benefits in a multi-entity and/or multi-state organization preferred
Working Conditions
- Work is generally performance in a company-provided or home-based office environment with extended sitting and use of the computer and general office equipment
- Requires speaking on telephone and in person, with occasional public speaking in large groups
- Occasional travel, both domestic and international, may be required
