- Statewide ARMER Engineer Manager
Description
This position provides leadership and oversight for the Office of Statewide Radio Communications engineering section, including supervision of staff and management of all resources—human, fiscal, and technical. Responsibilities include budgeting, planning, procurement, and development of communications infrastructure such as tower sites, buildings, two-way radios, microwave networks, and LAN/WAN systems. It ensures program delivery aligns with customer needs and supports system engineering activities, strategic planning, and implementation.
This position serves as the lead technical authority for the statewide shared public safety radio and data system (ARMER), guiding its strategic planning, design, construction, maintenance, budgeting, policy development, and operations to ensure reliable communications for emergency and daily use. It provides engineering expertise for electronic and non-traditional communications systems.
Additionally, the position manages the state’s public safety frequency coordination at the federal level and oversees radio spectrum allocation for cities, counties, and Tribal governments. In-state travel required, up to 25% of time.

Requirements
One year of managerial experience OR two years of professional supervisory experience OR three years of advanced professional experience providing technical direction for a large radio system that demonstrates:
- Experience interpreting and applying laws, regulations and/or codes for communication system construction, maintenance, and operation.
- Experience recommending, implementing and/or administering policies and procedures.
- Experience providing work direction to other staff.
- Experience managing budgets and/or contracts.
- Experience in communication system principles and practices such as design, implementation and/or maintenance of trunked and conventional radios systems, point to point microwave systems, and/or radio tower site facilities.
