Position Summary
The VP of Sponsorship and Membership at the Medical Association of Atlanta (MAA) is a dynamic, results-driven professional responsible for driving revenue through new member acquisition, member engagement, and the sale of sponsorship and advertising opportunities. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of fostering relationships across diverse sectors, from small businesses and nonprofits to Fortune 500 companies, religious organizations, and universities. The ideal candidate will serve as an ambassador for MAA, representing the organization at community events and building partnerships that benefit all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Development & Engagement
New Member Recruitment: Identify and cultivate relationships with prospective members, presenting the value of MAA membership and aligning benefits with their organizational needs.
Member Retention & Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage current members, ensuring they derive maximum value from their membership and remain active participants in MAA activities.
Onboarding & Orientation: Coordinate new member orientations and facilitate introductions to relevant committees and networking opportunities.
Member Communications: Maintain regular communication with members through events, emails, and personal outreach to keep them informed and engaged.
Sponsorship & Advertising Sales
Sponsorship Acquisition: Identify and secure sponsorships for MAA events, programs, and initiatives, tailoring packages to meet sponsor objectives and budget considerations.
Advertising Sales: Sell advertising space in MAA publications, digital platforms, and event materials, ensuring content aligns with sponsor goals.
Proposal Development: Create compelling sponsorship and advertising proposals that clearly articulate the benefits and ROI for potential partners.
Contract Negotiation & Fulfillment: Negotiate terms and ensure the fulfillment of all sponsor and advertiser commitments, maintaining high levels of satisfaction.
Community Engagement & Representation
Event Participation: Attend and represent MAA at community events, conferences, and networking functions, acting as a liaison between MAA and other organizations.
Partnership Development: Forge and nurture partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and other associations to expand MAA's reach and influence.
Ambassadorship: Promote MMA's mission and initiatives, advocating for the organization's role in the medical and broader community.
Event Planning & Execution
Event Coordination: Assist in the planning, organizing, and execution of MAA events, ensuring they align with organizational goals and provide value to members and sponsors.
Feedback & Improvement: Gather feedback from event participants and stakeholders to continuously improve future events and initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
Database Management: Maintain accurate records of membership, sponsorships, and advertising activities in the organization's CRM system.
Reporting & Analysis: Provide regular reports on membership growth, engagement metrics, sponsorship revenue, and advertising sales to the Executive Director.
Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and objectives of MAA.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years in membership development, sponsorship sales, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit or association environment.
Skills:
Strong sales and negotiation abilities.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
