The Kitchen Staff team member assists in all aspects of food preparation and service, ensuring a safe, sanitary, and efficient dining experience for all camp participants. The ideal candidate is a reliable and cooperative team player who is dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
Food Preparation and Service Assist the kitchen manager or lead cook with preparing meals according to camp menus and food safety guidelines. Portion and arrange food on serving trays for efficient meal service. Serve meals to campers and staff with a positive and friendly attitude. Support the preparation of any specialized meals for campers with dietary needs or restrictions.
Food Handling and Storage Follow proper food storage procedures, including correctly labeling and rotating food stock using the FIFO (first-in, first-out) method. Monitor and record the temperatures of all refrigeration and freezer units, reporting any issues to a manager immediately. Assist in receiving and properly storing food and supply deliveries.
Cleaning and Sanitation Execute all dishwashing duties, including washing and sanitizing silverware, glasses, plates, and bowls, as well as serving bowls, pots, and pans. Ensure that the dishwasher area and all sinks are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each meal. Sanitize all kitchen countertops and food preparation surfaces before and after each use. Immediately clean up spills in the dining hall, kitchen, or cooler to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment. Perform routine and deep cleaning tasks, including sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor.
Team Collaboration and Support Assist with any additional kitchen or dining hall tasks as requested by a manager, demonstrating flexibility and a strong work ethic. Communicate effectively with fellow kitchen staff to ensure smooth and timely meal service. Contribute to a positive and cooperative team atmosphere, especially during busy meal times.
