Academic Detailer Pharmacist (Western WV) Hybrid

Academic Detailer Pharmacist (Eastern Panhandle WV) Hybrid

Academic Detailer Pharmacist (Southern WV) Hybrid

The role of the Academic Detailer Pharmacist is vital to the success of the program with regards to ensuring the vision, to improve “Best Practices” of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of ADHD are the “Standard of Care” are shared by providers throughout the state. Academic detailing interventions with trained healthcare professionals have been shown to improve the quality of evidenced-based health care. The Academic Detailer Pharmacist is a field-based role that will independently engage community-based physicians and medical group administrators in an educational capacity with the goals of:

  • Driving adherence to evidence-based medicine guidelines related to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). 
  • Supporting comprehensive evaluations prior to a diagnosis of ADHD.
  • Supporting appropriate prescribing practices.
  • Supporting adequate patient follow-up and care.
  • Engaging providers to address medication regimen and dose appropriateness.

    What you'll do:

    • Develop provider educational materials for academic detailing sessions.
    • Complete assigned training in Academic Detailing, ADHD evaluation, Motivational interviewing, and more.
    • Perform initial and follow-up academic detailing sessions with providers both in-office and virtually, if requested.
    • Conduct pre- and post intervention provider surveys.
    • Schedule academic detailing sessions with providers as needed.
    • Travel to providers’ offices within assigned territories to conduct academic detailing sessions.
    • Conduct virtual academic detailing sessions.
    • Participate in program’s continuing education program.
    • Educate medical providers as to the role, purpose, and goals of the program.
    • Promote the program through regional outreach.
    • Acquire and maintain clinical knowledge and information on the disease states in which the program is involved.
    • Serve as a source of information about the program to individuals making inquiries.
    • Distribute informational guidelines and provides information to substantiate decisions made by the program in order to establish credibility for the program and to educate the individual making the inquiry. Compose correspondence on a wide range of subjects relating to the program.
    • Assist in the orientation, training, and education of subsequent academic detailers as needed. Answer questions in a courteous and educational manner.
    • Attend meetings where applicable.
    • Attend professional conferences where applicable.
    • Perform other professional duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by RDTP Drug Safety Program Coordinator.
    • Observe and report stimulant prescribing trends.
    • Provide regular program feedback from providers.
    • Assist with coordination of office lunches provided by the program during provider participation in the academic detailing session.

SEMPP Pharmacy Technician (Morgantown, WV) In-Office

The role of the Pharmacy Technician is vital to the success of the SEMP program with regards to ensuring the vision, to improve chronic pain relief, prevent drug addiction and save lives, and mission, transform the “Best Practices” of pain management into the new “Standard of Care” are shared by providers throughout the state, and to assist with creation of a new state-wide ADHD treatment guideline project. 

What you'll do: 

  • Identify potential medication issues and recognize some drug-drug and/or drug-disease interactions.
  • Recognize and document duplications of therapy for different drug classes.
  • Perform calculations of drug dosing to determine if appropriate.
  • Identify possible issues in the routes of administration of the different dosage formulations of medications.
  • Introduce patients and prescribers to scope, purpose, benefits, and goals of the SEMPP & Rational Drug Therapy Programs
  • Perform preparation documentation including a pharmaceutical history for PA case reviews, transitioning calls to the pharmacist(s) or scheduling for a telephone consultation with a pharmacist in the near future, and performing follow-up work.
  • Assist Program Coordinator/Pharmacist with administrative details and operational needs of the programs.
  • Research, gather, develop, and coordinate materials and reporting needed for metrics, administrative needs, the research and evaluation team, grant needs, etc.
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews while maintaining the highest quality standards for professionalism and customer service.
  • Conduct regional outreach to promote the programs.
  • Assist Program Coordinator/Pharmacist with special projects and accomplishing tasks important to the program as needed.    

RDTP Pharmacy Technician (Morgantown WV) In-Office

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for answering requests for information, prior authorization, or help from pharmacy providers enrolled in the WV Bureau for Medical Services Medicaid Prescription Drug Program, Molina Medicaid Solutions, Inc., WV Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA), and WVCHIPs via phone or fax.

What you'll do: 

  • Serve as the initial and main point of contact for healthcare providers serving the population of the WV Bureau for Medical Services & WV Public Employees Insurance Agency.
  • Provide excellent customer service through interaction with pharmacies and other healthcare providers.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely over the phone, fax, or electronic mail in a professional manner.
  • Evaluate Help Desk and prior authorization requests using established guidelines, and enter approved requests into mainframe computer. Requests which require therapeutic judgement are referred to attending pharmacist.
  • Research provider inquiries using all available resources.
  • Perform callbacks to providers' inquiries when necessary.
  • Document all communications and required information in the appropriate database.
  • Assist Program Director/Pharmacist with administrative details of the program. Gather, coordinate, and develop materials needed for enhanced quality of the program.
  • Respond to requests for information from state, federal, or other governmental agencies and departments, and colleges or other University affiliates.
  • Assist Program Director/Pharmacist with special projects as needed.
  • Compose correspondence requiring a high degree of knowledge and familiarity of the program.
  • Perform research or statistical work in the compilation of reports involving the administrative activities of the program.


Requirements

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving:
    • Proficiency in public speaking.
    • Professional practice in presenting to healthcare professionals.
    • Survey development and validation.
    • Familiar with PowerPoint and other software and computer skills to allow for individual travel and presentation of materials.
    • Experience with Academic Detailing, Motivational Interviewing, and/or health care education.
  • Demonstrated excellent public speaking abilities.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and make constructive suggestions to appropriate peers and supervisors.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service skills and orientation.
  • Exhibits excellent skills in handling difficult persons.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate drug use in most common disease states.
  • Demonstrated excellent computer data entry, software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and typing skills.
  • Ability to master guidelines and convey information in an accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform duties in compliance with WVU HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized certification in psychiatry and/or education.
 
Requirements 
  • The ability to travel to WVUs regional campuses and/or within the multi-state area is required.
  • Licensed/Registered Pharmacist in WV or Eligible for Licensure/Registration in WV.

SEMPP Pharmacy Technician (Morgantown, WV) In-Office

Qualifications: 
  • Associate's degree OR an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience. 
  • 0-6 months of experience and knowledge of medical condition symptoms, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Strong mathematical skills necessary to perform financial and dosage calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercising judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize information and draw logical conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and set priorities regarding the work to be accomplished. 
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Outstanding people skills, including a positive attitude, outgoing personality, and the ability to effective deal with all types and levels of people in a positive manner. 
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Skilled at using a microcomputer and related software, including Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Skilled at using mainframe/microcomputers for Internet data collection, electronic mail, and other software. 
  • Ability to read and write in English. 
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to learn scientific or specialized terminology specifically relating to Pharmacy and healthcare insurance programs. 
  • Knowledge of prescription drug information (i.e., generic and brand names, class of drugs).
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations and insurance billing processes associated with retail pharmacy operations. 
  • Knowledge of symptoms, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Ability to follow guidelines and convey information in an accurate manner. 
  • Ability to be flexible and work in an environment with frequent rule changes. 

Certifications:

  • Licensed Pharmacy Technician or eligible to pass an equivalent examination.
