Description
Copa Health is seeking experienced psychiatrists to serve as Lead Psychiatrists supporting our East Valley and West Valley service areas. This physician leadership role combines direct patient care with clinical oversight, provider mentorship, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration within one of Arizona's leading integrated behavioral healthcare organizations.
Working closely with the Chief Medical Officer and regional leadership teams, Lead Psychiatrists help shape clinical practice, support psychiatric providers, and advance high-quality, person-centered care for individuals living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Substance Use Disorders (SUD), and complex behavioral health needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management.
Serve as a clinical leader and mentor for Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and other behavioral health providers.
Support quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
Collaborate with behavioral health, nursing, primary care, and operational leadership teams.
Provide consultation for complex clinical cases and psychiatric emergencies.
Participate in provider onboarding, development, and peer review activities.
Support compliance with AHCCCS, Medicare, Medicaid, and accreditation standards.
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
Requirements
Required
MD or DO from an accredited institution.
Arizona medical license or ability to obtain licensure.
Current DEA registration.
Minimum three (3) years of post-residency psychiatric practice experience.
Preferred
Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN).
Experience with SMI populations and community behavioral health.
Experience supervising or mentoring Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants.
Familiarity with AHCCCS, integrated care models, and Medicaid-funded healthcare programs.
Experience in quality improvement, provider leadership, or clinical oversight.
