- Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Scientist in Neuromodulation

The Jiang Lab, led by Dr. Jing Jiang (https://jingjiang.lab.uiowa.edu/), at the University of lowa Health Care is recruiting a highly motivated scientist to contribute to our NIH R01-funded research. We welcome applicants at the postdoctoral or research scientist level, with responsibilities tailored to experience and expertise. We offer 2-3 years of research and career development, with annual renewal based on performance and continued funding.
Research Program
Our interdisciplinary and translational research aims to uncover causal human brain circuits underlying emotion and cognition and advance mechanistically informed precision neuromodulation for brain disorders. Our framework integrates brain network discovery and individualized circuit targeting, multimodal concurrent brain stimulation-recording, and computational modeling. We bridge invasive approaches, including intracranial electrical stimulation (iES) and electrophysiological recordings (intracranial EEG and single-unit recordings), with noninvasive brain stimulation and whole-brain neuroimaging across modalities, spatial scales, and diverse populations.
Position Highlights
- Work with cutting-edge multimodal concurrent stimulation-recording datasets spanning iES, TMS, iEEG, single-unit, and fMRI
- Study causal brain circuits relevant to emotion, cognition, and brain disorders across diverse populations
- Develop computational and network-neuroscience approaches for multimodal brain-circuit analyses
- Lead manuscripts and conference presentations, and contribute to grant applications and new research directions

Requirements
Required Qualifications
- PhD and/or MD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, psychiatry, neurology, or a related field
- Strong experience in (i)EEG and/or fMRI data analysis
- Strong record of peer-reviewed scientific publications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting human neuroscience experiments involving brain stimulation, electrophysiology, and/or neuroimaging
- Expertise spanning both experimental and computational approaches is particularly valued
