- Transplant Psychiatrist - Faculty Position

The University of Virginia School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences invites applications for a Transplant Psychiatrist to join our expanding academic faculty. Academic rank (Assistant, Associate, or Professor) and tenure status will be commensurate with experience.
This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a psychiatrist interested in transplant psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and integrated behavioral health care within complex medical populations. The selected candidate will play a key role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care for solid organ transplant patients, including pre-transplant psychosocial assessments, inpatient consultation, and longitudinal outpatient care for transplant candidates and recipients.
Working closely with multidisciplinary transplant teams, the psychiatrist will help optimize psychosocial readiness, treatment adherence, and post-transplant adjustment, contributing to improved outcomes for medically complex patients. Additional clinical opportunities may include consultation-liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, or outpatient psychiatry, depending on the candidate’s interests.
This clinician-educator role includes teaching and supervision of fellows, residents, and medical students, participation in academic initiatives, and shared faculty call coverage. Faculty are supported in developing clinical, educational, and scholarly interests within medical and transplant psychiatry.
